Here are the deleted scenes for Jurassic World: Rebirth.
DVD/Blu-Ray Deleted Scenes
Alternate Opening
The alternative opening is very similar to the final version. It takes place 17 years ago on Ile Saint-Hubert before Jurassic Park was created. The scene begins at a river with primates staring into the forest. The trees begin shaking. It seems like it could be a dinosaur, but it’s actually a giant bulldozer flattening down trees for the new laboratory. There are lots of workers and a crane moving pipes. We then see a helicopter landing at a helipad on the island. The scene on the Blu-Ray contains a lot of unfinished visual effects shots.
Velociraptors
Towards the end of the film, two Velociraptors confront the survivors at the gas station. The group slowly backs away. Xavier asks Dr. Loomis if they are Raptors. The Velocraptors get scared away by a bigger threat – Mutadons. Bella then finds Delores. As before, the dinosaur effects have incomplete visual effects.
Alternate Mutadon Attack
Immediately, following the Velociraptors scene, a Mutadon confronts the group and some of them flee into the gas station. Zora attempts to use a payphone but reaches a voicemail which tells her she’ll receive a callback in case of disconnection. A Mutadon appears and Zora hides behind the payphone while Xavier hides behind a gas pump. The Mutadon enters the gas station store where Reuben, Teresa and Rosa are hiding. Martin Krebs hides under a vehicle. As the dinosaur is about to leave, the payphone rings. As it approaches the payphone where Zora is, Xavier gets its attention and runs into the store and shuts the doors. They barricade themselves inside so it can’t get in. As before, the dinosaur effects have unfinished visual effects.
The theatrical version is much shorter, the group run into the gas station store and barricades themselves in there straight away.
Other Deleted Scenes
Most of the following scenes were seen in the early trailer but weren’t in the final film.
Quotes
Quite a few lines were heard in the trailers but weren’t in the theatrical cut. These include:
- Zora Bennett says, “This island was the research facility for the original Jurassic Park”.
- During the first trailer, Dr Henry Loomis says that the species on Ile Saint-Hubert were “too dangerous for the original park”.
- “The worst of the worst were left here”
- “None of what you just said is good” – In the first trailer, Zora says this line after Henry says the ways the Spinosaurus help the Mosasaurus hunt.
Scientist Death
In the commentary track, director Gareth Edwards says he wanted Desanto to be killed in the opening scene instead of Williams. He cast the characters the other way around but was changed because he felt it might be harsh to kill a female scientist in the first minutes of the film.
Distortus rex
There was a shot of the Distortus rex standing over the scientist.
Dr. Loomis at the Research Facility
In the trailer, there was a scene where Dr. Henry Loomis looks at an experiment in a small tank at the InGen research facility.
Two-headed Velociraptor
Originally, there was going to be a two-headed Velociraptor seen in the lab, but it was replaced by a two-headed Mutadon.
DinosaursMating
A scene showing Titanosaurus mating in the grass field while the team was retrieving the blood was cut.
Titanosaurus
Scenes featuring the Titanosaurus were replaced and changed. Their design was also changed.
First Trailer
Final Film
Lab Changes
The lab was changed in various places from the first trailer.
River Raft
In the first trailer, the Tyrannosaurus was roaring at Teresa, but in the film, the dinosaur went to get a drink from the river before it realised the group were there.
Tyrannosaurus rex vs. Distortus rex
Director Gareth Edwards originally thought the ending could be Tyrannosaurus rex killing the Distortus rex but the visual effects supervisor convinced him not to do it as the audience would have expected it.
Duncan’s death
Director Gareth Edwards filmed scenes where Duncan lived and died, as they could not do future reshoots. After the scenes were shown to test audiences, they preferred the version where he lived.
